The Russian Hospitality Awards has taken into consideration the hotel market tendencies and established the new nomination, The Hostel of the Year.

Modern hostels are a creative environment and inexpensive accommodation. Each hostel has its own concept in the form of either unique interior design or special additional services, such as themed exhibitions, various master classes, English speaking clubs, drinking tea with cookies in the cosy kitchen, tour or restaurant discounts, air plane ticket booking, transfer, or free creative platform.

“Modern hostels are accommodation with the quality, equipment and service level reaching good 2* hotels and are different only due to their high-capacity rooms and shared bathrooms. The professional management level is going up as well. Hotels themselves take home some ideas which are initially typical of hostels: shared areas, multi-functional lounge and some other areas. From my point of view, this exchange of experience is a positive tendency both for market players and awards participants,” shares his ideas Dmitry Selkov, the Managing Partner of ID Hostel Chain.

The peculiarity of hostels is inexpensive accommodation and extraordinary idea content. Herewith it should be noted that low prices have no impact on the cleanness and quality of service. Hostels have the same strict requirements for hygiene as large hotels. Hospitality standards for all facilities are the same regardless of the size, form and cost of the services.

Guests are different at hostels, but the main thing which unites them all is active views on life, openness to new acquaintances and sociability. There are always like-minded people, and useful connections are often established. However, you should not think that hostels are popular among students only. Taking into consideration the fact that today Russian businessmen are mostly young people, they are attracted by hostels owing to their free and creative atmosphere.

“As we are the first Russian hostel nominated for the Russian Hospitality Awards, and the only nominee who was nominated for the previous awards twice, since the very beginning of the awards we have been asking the organisers to make a separate nomination for hostels, so we are grateful for being heard. I am sure that the separate nomination will promote market and industry development. I would like to wish good luck to future nominees!” comments Dmitry Selkov.

The Russian Hospitality Awards is growing actively and is pleased to welcome hostels to the specialised nomination.
